 Haf-ling-er
Small breed of horse originating in the
South Tyrol, the Haflinger is a mountain pony, enduring, robust and versatile, used for
all farm labour, for pulling a carriage or sledge, and for pack hauling. Colour is always
chestnut, from honey blond, to dark chocolate. Manes and tails are usually long, thick and
snow white or flaxen. Size ranges from 13 to 14 hands. The Haflinger is well muscled, with
a powerful build, sturdy bone, and relatively large hooves. It has a long life span, up to
35 years old.

used for all farm labour, for pulling artillery cannons or for transporting troops. Colour
can be varied including army green, cream & fire engine red. Roof and doors made of
canvas or fibreglass. Size is 1.7m high, 3m long and 1.5m wide. The Haflinger can climb at
45 degrees with ease, carry half a ton and drive under water. It has a long life span,
